These rustic sliding doors are often found in modern craftsman-style homes, and are used on bedroom closets and kitchen pantries, among. Homes boasting these trendy yet functional kitchen sinks can fetch nearly an 8-percent sales premium. Homes mentioning subway tiles in their listings sold for nearly 7 percent more than expected and 63 days faster.
None of the features you tout are appealing to me, but rather turn me off. Barn doors — NO, and yes, I know what they are in a home, but to me, they belong in a barn. They can ask to come in and you can deny them entry.
I bet more than half of Americans either know how to replace a toilet or could do it from a youtube video. It takes less than 30 minutes.
And there is no plumber I know of that would pull a permit to replace an old toilet. She said we were paying higher property taxes because our home was gorgeous inside. And as far as location, location, location — our neighbor is an ugly water tower.
All fine, but these features have been on HGTV for a few years. My realtors discourage investing in current trends because buyers probably want other colors. A good real estate agent will point out location, condition and age of furnace, air conditioning, plumbing, electricity, roofing age, space, storage, schools, shopping, and other features that cannot be modified but are much longer-lasting and important.
Sorry, no. I also detest ship lap because Joanna Gaines so overly uses it on her. I commented to Assessor that I replaced wood shakes with how to make money selling barn doors — she responded, I bet it looks very nice. Up Up Up the assessment goes. Just an fyi — my younger sister, in her twenties as a single home owner went out on the day of closing, and purchased a new toilet. The ones at the house skeeved. Well SHE installed on her first day of home ownership, so it can be.
Loving those plaid bar stools, but on another note — where does this data come from? There is no measure in our multiple listing system for items such as barn doors and subway tiles — so how would they compile such data? Never have I had anyone shopping for the features Zillow prefers. Is it just a money-making operation or did they have to do it to protect property values? Many have a God complex.
Yes the change u were forced to do was stupid. And a different bozo could come next time demanding u put it back the way you wanted.
Big egos in the little building departments. They drive around during the day, and ahos they see a delivery of lumber or other building materials, tool shed, they issue a stop work order on the house. Right, unless you want a home that meets certain minimum standards. My first house had a 10 AWG cable NM Non Metalic run from the service panel through the outside wall where the panel was mountedand stapled not enclosed in conduit to the outside wood siding, going over a doorway then down to just above the foundation, back through the wall to a 30A outlet for an electric stove.
And the idiot electrician who installed it left his business card scotch taped inside the panel. No Inspection. Needless to say, that is the first thing I ripped. All of these things are items that have come into vogue recently with design shows like those on HGTV—and what happens when the next trends come down the line?
I go for what I like and what suits my lifestyle. Just make sure to get toilet smack dab center on the hole. My one advice is make sure u get a really nice reliable one. Not yard sale one. I can spot a poor job in a minute. Drive around and you will see. It stands out like a sore thumb. That is a precedent then for current and future intrusions by said Gestapos of the great satan.
Kind of ugly. Remodels are NOT required to get a permit if there is no structural changes, no electrical updates and no plumbing relocations. Cabinets, flooring and wall refinishing new drywall. Of course there are always exceptions to. Just ask our former governor who is free of prosecution for accepting bribes! I disagree strongly with you as I bought a house where the person lived for 20 years and never pulled permits to have an extension put on and new kitchen installed and geothermal heating.
They listed this in my sales pitch and when I bought the house my taxes doubled! I have a nice backsplash but not subway tile. Not to worry. Next year barn doors will be out and French doors back in, quartz out for stainless steel counter tops, shaker cabinets out for cherry cabinets and on and on. How the heck do your think these big box stores and manufacturers stay in business.
If I changed paint colors for every new fad I would have gone through enough paint to keep a paint factory running 25 hours a day. Quartz counter tops are not very practical, although they look beautiful. I also look at the outdoor living space as a number one feature when looking at a new home. Without a great outdoor living space, I am not interested in the house.
Also I look for a lot with some privacy as I personally, do not like living in a fish bowl. Anything on the inside of the house is cosmetic and can be changed. I think the purpose is to help the homeowner sell their house for a higher price. Group Copy 9 Created with Sketch. Group 16 Created with Sketch. Zillow Porchlight. Featured Post.
